Welcome to Ikusaselihle High School
A place where excellence is not just expected—but nurtured and lived.
It is with great pride and deep commitment that I welcome you to Ikusaselihle High School—an institution poised for transformation, rooted in excellence, and dedicated to shaping future-ready learners.
I am the youngest in a family of eight and was raised in the heart of rural KwaZulu-Natal, in the village of Kwangwenda under Ward 6 of Umzumbe Municipality (Ugu District, Port Shepstone). My educational journey began at Kwangwenda Primary School and continued at Gugulesizwe Secondary School in the Scottburgh area. From a young age, I felt a strong calling toward Mathematics and Physical Sciences—disciplines I would eventually dedicate my career to teaching and leading.
At 17, I began formal training at Eshowe College of Education, later advancing to the University of Zululand and eventually UKZN. Currently, I am furthering my leadership capacity through the Advanced Diploma in School Leadership and Management (ADE) with Edutel—a decision driven by my passion for empowering schools to thrive in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. I believe leadership in education must evolve to meet the demands of a rapidly changing world, and my pursuit of the ADE is rooted in that belief.
My career spans diverse educational settings, including a Catholic boarding school in Ulundi, Empangeni High School—a former Model C institution—and Bhanoyi High in Ixopo Village. These experiences have given me a grounded understanding of the varied environments in which both educators and learners operate, particularly in under-resourced and rural contexts.
Being appointed as Principal of Ikusaselihle High School is not only an honour, but a purposeful opportunity to bring my experience, vision, and innovation to the benefit of our learners, educators, and broader community.
My Vision for Ikusaselihle High School
I envision a school where:
-
Every teacher teaches with passion and purpose,
-
Every learner engages and excels,
-
Every parent is a pillar of support, and
-
Every result reflects excellence.
Over the next five years, my goal is to see Ikusaselihle High transformed into a digitally driven, comprehensive high school, offering subjects such as:
-
Dramatic & Visual Arts
-
Civil & Services
-
Construction
-
Electrical Technology
-
Hospitality Studies
-
Technical Mathematics & Sciences
-
Engineering Graphics & Design
-
Dance and other vocational/practical disciplines
I am also actively involved in initiatives such as the Data Driven Districts (DDD) programme, where I regularly train School Management Teams (SMTs) and district officials across KwaZulu-Natal. Through effective data use, I helped raise matric performance from 68% to 96% within four years—a testament to the power of evidence-based leadership.
Our Guiding Slogan
“We Are Always Ahead”
This slogan reflects our commitment to innovation, growth, and excellence. I believe that Ikusaselihle High School will not just participate in change—it will lead it.
I invite all parents, educators, learners, and stakeholders to journey with us as we build a school of excellence, relevance, and resilience. Together, we are shaping tomorrow, today.
